Purchasing Manager

The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for setting up the purchasing organization and strategies for the Cellectis manufacturing site based in Raleigh, North Carolina. This position will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with a dotted line reporting structure to the Global Procurement Lead.

  • Ensure site adherence to Global Purchasing Policy and Site Procedures
  • Conducting full Purchasing Projects such as RFP processes, make or buy, multi/re-sourcing projects, etc.
  • Coordinating and developing a strongly partnership with all the other departments: Manufacturing teams, Supply Chain, Quality, QC, Legal, Regulatory, Finance, IT, FM, etc.
  • Ensure Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) procedures are established and monitored, including supplier performance reviews and governance meetings (i.e. business review meetings with key suppliers to assess risk, review forecasts, review supplier scorecard, and identifying potential cost reduction and improvement opportunities)
  • Developing and rolling out the procurement scorecard and KPIs to include supplier quality, supplier responsiveness and on-time delivery
  • Ensure all materials, consumables and supplies are purchased and available to support the site operations (shared responsibility with Supply)
  • Accountable for building a cost reduction opportunities pipeline in order to achieve financial goals
  • Responsible for the Purchasing performance reporting for the site following the Global Purchasing guidelines
  • Support global purchasing projects implementation as needed
  • Collaborate with applicable parties to develop and leverage purchasing best practices
  • Partner with QA on supplier quality initiatives such as materials qualifications, SCAR, VCNs and supplier quality scorecards
  • Identify areas for improvement to continually drive performance and business results
  • Interview, hire and train personnel for purchasing related activities


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement & Supply Chain related discipline required; Advanced degree in biochemistry or molecular/cellular biology would be a preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience working in Procurement, Purchasing and/or Supply Chain roles, within in a biotech or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment required
  • Experience in the Cell & Gene Therapy environment preferred
  • Prior management/supervisory experience, or experience as a team or group leader
  • Experience working with SAP or equivalent ERP Systems including Materials Requirements Planning (MRP)
  • Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong Project Management skills
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Strong communications skills and ability to work in a multi-national organization
  • APICS/CPIM certification preferred
  • Start-up experience preferred
