Plant Transformation Group Lead

Cellectis Plant Sciences Inc. is seeking a highly motivated individual with extensive tissue culture and transformation experience to join our plant transformation team in St. Paul, MN.

The successful candidate is expected to lead our transformation platform, work on system improvements and technologies to enhance the platform, and team up with other groups to enable the company’s Genome engineering pipeline. Candidates should have significant expertise in transgenic plant production (tissue culture, protoplast techniques, transformation, greenhouse plant cultivation, phenotyping/genotyping analysis) and hands on experience of molecular biology techniques for transgenic plant characterization. Knowledge of commercial transgenic plant production and experience in an industry setting are highly desirable.

 

Duties and Responsabilities

·      Establish and direct plant transformation program to develop and perform plant tissue culture, transformation, and cultivation methodologies.

·      Manage and oversee research activities within the transformation team; prioritize and track projects to meet goals in the context of aggressive timelines.

·      Utilize the published literature to identify techniques and strategies to create more efficient tissue culture and transformation methods.

·      Recognize problems and develop appropriate solutions and proactively communicate with other team members.

·      Work cooperatively with other groups to enable and streamline the Genome engineering pipelines.

·      Prepare appropriate reports and present data to internal and external colleagues, partners and customers.

 

Education, knowledge, skills and abilities:


·      PhD with at least five years work experience in tissue culture and plant transformation; industrial experience is highly desirable; individuals without an advanced degree but extensive work experience will also be considered.

·      Hands on experience in molecular biology and cell biology (microscopy) assays.

·      High level of organization, attention to detail, and ability to complete tasks.

·      Demonstrated technical achievement as evidenced by publication and/or patent record.

·      Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills to effectively work and contribute in a diverse team environment.

·      Strong written and oral communication skills.

·      Understanding of processes for transgenic crop development is highly desirable.
