Press Release

Cellectis SA has moved to a new facility at Aventis' Biocitech Park, in Romainville, Paris area

Romainville, France - March the 1st, 2004 - Cellectis SA, the rational genome engineering company, announced today that it has relocated its laboratories and headquarter into a new facility located at Romainville (Paris area).
The company is now using 1,500 square meters (above 16,000 square feet) within "Biocitech" technology park dedicated to life-sciences companies.

This relocation comes at a turning point in the development of the company. In 2003 Cellectis has successfully completed a very important phase of its research and development program. The industrial turn the company has set forth today requires adapted laboratory and manufacturing capacity. Biocitech provides Cellectis with outstanding facilities at pharmaceutical and industrial standards to expand the automation and industrialization of its custom-made Meganuclease production platform. "We are thrilled to start working and growing today in the privileged state-of-the-art environment of Biocitech. The high standards of the technical facilities accessible to Cellectis are a valuable asset for the Company's future and development" stated André Choulika, the President and CEO of Cellectis SA.

The technology park "Biocitech" was created by Aventis in order to convert its Romainville Research Center into an attractive and sustainable development center dedicated to life sciences. As a response to the need of young innovative companies for high standard laboratories, Biocitech offers to lease more than 30,000 square meters. The offer, packaged with a wide range of customized services has already convinced several biotech companies to settle in.
"We are very pleased to welcome Cellectis at Biocitech. The arrival of this new company confirms both the need for a place where research-based companies and technology platforms can cross-fertilize, as well as our role as a key player in Paris Bio-cluster" comments Jacques Lhomel, President of Biocitech.

Cellectis SA, founded in 1999 as a spin-off from Institut Pasteur, was based until now within the BioTop incubator in the campus of Institut Pasteur, from which the company received outstanding support since inception.

After four years of active business, Cellectis is today the world leader in applying the technology of Meganuclease Recombination Systems to in vivo genome engineering and genome surgery. As of today, Cellectis has 34 employees, including 14 PhDs, and has signed more than 20 deals on its genome engineering technologies with world leading biotechnology companies.

Cellectis is focused on the research and development of custom-made Meganucleases for in vivo DNA interventions and also provides new tools for rational reverse genetics and targeted recombination. The company develops Meganucleases that can induce unique site-directed double-strand breaks in a living cell, and can be used for biotechnological and therapeutical applications. Cellectis is focusing on bringing "genome surgery" to clinic as a genuine new molecular medicine approach.
