Cellectis announces a License agreement with Regeneron Pharmaceuticals relating to the use of the Homologous Recombination in Velocigene© Platform

Paris, France - February the 11th, 2004 - Cellectis, the rational genome engineering company, announced today they entered into a non-exclusive worldwide license agreement in which Cellectis has granted to Regeneron rights under its patent family relating to the use of homologous recombination for the specific replacement or insertion of a gene in the mouse genome.
Through this agreement, Regeneron will use this patented technology in its Velocigene© platform, which allows custom and precise manipulation of very large sequences of DNA to produce a highly customized modification of a specified target gene and accelerates the production of knock-out and transgenic expression models without using either positive/negative selection or isogenic DNA.
Velocigene© accelerates gene function discovery and validation of new drug targets through rapid and high-throughput creation of important in vivo model systems.
Financial terms and conditions of the agreement were not disclosed.

"We are extremly pleased about this important agreement with a leading biopharmaceutical company such as Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc." said Isabelle Pelletier-Bressac, VP Business Development of Cellectis. "This new agreement confirms that these patents, covering certain uses of homologous recombination, play a critical role in this area" she added.

Cellectis SA (http://www.cellectis.com) was founded in 1999, as a spin-off from the Institut Pasteur. It is the first company to apply the Meganuclease Recombination System approach to in vivo genome engineering. The company is developing Meganucleases that can target a unique DNA break in vivo, as a fundamentally enabling technology for commercial applications in human therapeutics, pharmaceutical discovery, agriculture and industrial biotechnology.

As of today, Cellectis has entered into more than 20 deals on Genome Engineering technologies.
