Meganucleases
Meganucleases are by definition sequence-specific endonucleases with large (>12 bp) recognition sites. Because of their high specificity, these proteins are the perfect good tools for genome engineering, for they are specific enough to bind and cut only one site in a chosen genome. In the wild, meganucleases are essentially represented by homing endonucleases.
