The name InVoLin® comes from “in vivo linearization”.
It is a specific MRS technology in which the transgene is excised from a circular plasmid inside the cell. This MRS technology does not use homologous recombination. It is a tool which improves the efficacy of traditional transgenesis.
Traditional transgenesis is based on the transfection of foreign sequences into the nucleus. The best results are generally obtained after in vitro linearization of the transgene. This is excised from the plasmid, and the vector and purified DNA fragment are introduced into the cell. However, even in these conditions, numerous problems can occur, including:
InVoLin® significantly improves these three parameters, making transgenesis applicable to many resistant cells and species. Promising results have been obtained in fish.
