Genome Engineering

The discovery of DNA, the molecular basis of genetics, in the middle of the 20th century, revolutionized the possibilities of traditional genetics and paved the way to decoding the genetic program of species. Direct human intervention on DNA to modify the code now offers a powerful tool through which a rational approach to genetics can be developed and improvements made to human health and, more generally, the future conditions for human life.
